Recall 05V267000 · manufacturer campaign FSRP 04-092

Electrical System › Starter Assembly — Neoplan · reported 7 Jun 2005 · 85 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN 60' ARTICULATED TRANSIT BUSES, THE STARTER CABLE AND ADDITIONAL HEAVY GAUGE WIRES HAD INADVERTENTLY BEEN ATTACHED TO THE STARTER STUD DURING THE MANUFACTURING AND ASSEMBLY PROCESS.

The risk

OVER TIME, THE STARTER SOLENOID COULD CRACK AND A SHORT CIRCUIT MIGHT DEVELOP THAT WOULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE.

The fix

THESE VEHICLES WERE SENT TO ONLY ONE CUSTOMER, NEW JERSEY TRANSIT. ALL VEHICLES HAVE BEEN CORRECTED.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
