Recall 05V355000
Service Brakes, Air › Supply › Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings — Pierce · reported 10 Aug 2005 · 150 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN FIRE TRUCKS, INTERFERENCE MAY OCCUR BETWEEN THE AERIAL FRONT AXLE INTERLOCK SENSOR BRACKET AND THE FRONT AIR BRAKE HOSE. THIS CONDITION OCCURS DURING FULL TURN STEERING AND FULL SUSPENSION JOUNCE COMPRESSION.
The risk
THIS INTERFERENCE MAY CAUSE CHAFING LEADING TO A POTENTIAL FRONT AIR BRAKE HOSE FAILURE. IN THE EVENT OF A FRONT BRAKE HOSE FAILURE, LOSS OF FRONT BRAKING WILL OCCUR, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE EXISTING FRONT AXLE INTERLOCK SENSOR BRACKET AND INSTALL A NEW BRACKET IN A NEW LOCATION AVOIDING THE FRONT AXLE BRAKE HOSE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 13, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT PIERCE AT 920-832-3249.
CUSTOMERS MAYALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236; (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
