Fuel System, Gasoline › Delivery › Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings — Mercedes Benz · reported 29 Aug 2005 · 487 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE FUEL RETURN HOSE BETWEEN FUEL TANK AND RETURN LINE CAN BE PERMEATED WITH FUEL. THIS SITUATION RESULTS FROM THE EXPANSION AND CONTRACTION OF THE HOSE UNDER PRESSURE CAUSING MICROCRACKS IN THE HOSE MATERIAL.

The risk

THESE MICROCRACKS MAY CAUSE FUEL LEAKAGE. FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

The fix

DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE ALL FUEL RETURN HOSES WITH THE APPROPRIATE HOSES FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MERCEDES BENZ AT 1-800-367-6372.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
