Recall 05V401000

Power Train › Axle Assembly — Bri-mar · reported 15 Sep 2005 · 123 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN DUMP, EQUIPMENT HAULERS AND HYDRAULIC TILT TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH GLOBAL DIRECT COMPONENTS (GDC) AXLES, THE WELD WHICH FASTENED THE AXLE SPINDLE TO THE AXLE TUBE WAS IMPROPERLY WELDED.

The risk

THE SPINDLE COULD SEPARATE FROM THE AXLE TUBE CAUSING THE WHEEL AND TIRE TO SEPARATE FROM THE TRAILER INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

BRI-MAR IS WORKING WITH GDC TO NOTIFY OWNERS AND HAVE THE AXLES REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BRI-MAR AT 717-709-2009.

CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
