What's wrong
CERTAIN 2004 CORBEIL MINIBUS SCHOOL BUSES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN APRIL 26 AND MAY 21, 2004. AN INADEQUATE QUANTITY OF GLUE WAS USED TO SEAL THE CEILING JOINTS WHICH FAILS TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 221, SCHOOL BUS BODY JOINT STRENGTH.
The risk
IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE LONGITUDINAL ROOF JOINT COULD HAVE LESS STRENGTH AS REQUIRED BY FMVSS 221, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY.
The fix
CORBEIL WILL NOTIFY ITS CUSTOMERS AND REPAIR THE BUSES BY ADDING ADDITIONAL GLUE AND/OR SCREWS TO ENFORCE THE CEILING JOINTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 17, 2006. CUSTOMERS MAY CONTACT CORBEIL AT 450-439-3577.
CUSTOMERS MAY CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236; (TTY:1-800-424-9153); OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
