Recall 06V084000

Electrical System › Wiring › Interior/under Dash — Jayco · reported 30 Mar 2006 · 183 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON CHEVROLET CHASSIS WERE PRODUCED WITH A BODY WIRING HARNESS WITH NO PROTECTIVE CONDUIT IN THE AREA UNDER THE DRIVER'S FEET TO REDUCE THE POTENTIAL FOR HARNESS WEAR. THE BODY WIRING HARNESS INCLUDES SDM WIRING THAT COULD BE DAMAGED FROM CHAFING AND WEAR BY THE VEHICLE OPERATORS.

The risk

THIS COULD RESULT IN INADVERTENT AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. A PERSON MAY RECEIVE MINOR INJURIES, SUCH AS ABRASIONS, FROM CONTACT WITH THE BAG.

The fix

GENERAL MOTORS/CHEVROLET DIVISION IS CONDUCTING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. CHEVROLET WILL INSPECT THE WIRING HARNESS FOR POTENTIAL DAMAGE, REPAIR OR REPLACE THE HARNESS IF REQUIRED, AND ADD CONDUIT TO ALL HARNESSES. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438 OR JAYCO AT 1-800-283-8267.

CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
