Recall 06V097000
Equipment › Other › Labels — Country Coach · reported 3 Apr 2006 · 103 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 120, 'TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES OTHER THAN PASSENGER CARS.' THE FEDERAL TIRE LABELS INCORRECTLY STATE THE COLD TIRE INFLATION PRESSURE FOR THE TOYO 12R22.5 REAR TIRES.
The risk
THIS NONCOMPLIANCE COULD LEAD TO PREMATURE TIRE WEAR AND POTENTIALLY A TIRE FAILURE IF THE TIRES ARE INFLATED TO THE MAXIMUM INFLATION PRESSURE. SUCH A TIRE FAILURE COULD RESULT IN THE LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
The fix
OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH NEW FEDERAL TIRE LABELS WHICH REFLECT THE CORRECT COLD TIRE INFLATION PRESSURE FOR THE REAR TIRES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 8, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT COUNTRY COACH AT 1-800-452-8015.
CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
