Recall 06V165000

Suspension › Rear › Axle › Spindle — Bedard · reported 17 May 2006 · 21 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH IMT AXLES, DUE TO IMPROPER MATERIAL USED ON THE AXLE SPINDLE, THE SPINDLE CAN BEND OR BREAK.

The risk

A BROKEN SPINDLE CAN ALLOW THE WHEEL TO SEPARATE FROM THE TRAILER, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE AXLE AFTER TESTING,IF NECESSARY. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BEDARD TANKERS AT 514-937-1670.

CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
