Trailer Hitches — Keystone · reported 28 Jun 2006 · 27 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN TRAVEL TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH TEKONSHA EMERGENCY BRAKE BREAKAWAY SWITCHES SOLD BY CEQUENT, AN ELECTRICAL SWITCHING COMPONENT MAY CAUSE THE BREAKAWAY DEVICE TO FAIL OR TO OPERATE IMPROPERLY.
The risk
IN THE CASE OF A SEPARATION OF THE TRAILER FROM THE TOWING VEHICLE, A FAILURE OF THE BREAKAWAY SWITCH MAY PREVENT THE TRAILER BRAKES FROM ACTIVATING POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
The fix
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BREAKAWAY SWITCHES FREE OF CHARGE. THESE TRAILERS ARE STILL LOCATED AT THE KEYSTONE RV MANUFACTURING FACILITY OR IN THE POSSESSION OF DEALERS.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
