Recall 06V303000

Power Train › Manual Transmission — Victory · reported 7 Aug 2006 · 2,402 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES EQUIPPED WITH A GATES DRIVE BELT SYSTEM, THE FRONT SPROCKET MAY WEAR BETWEEN THE SPROCKET AND ITS RETAINING NUT, CAUSING THE FRONT SPROCKET NUT TO LOOSEN AND FAIL TO RETAIN THE SPROCKET.

The risk

THE FRONT SPROCKET NUT FAILURE COULD CAUSE AXIAL MOVEMENT AND INTERFERENCE WHICH COULD RESULT IN TRANSMISSION LOCKUP, INCREASING THE RISK OF LOSS OF CONTROL OR CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT SPROCKET ASSEMBLY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 22, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT POLARIS AT 763-417-8650.

CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
