Recall 06V396000

Service Brakes, Hydraulic — C&c · reported 17 Oct 2006 · 1 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN STOCK TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH DEXTER AXLES, THE DISC BRAKE CALIPER MOUNTING BOLTS MAY STRIP. INSUFFICIENT CLAMP LOAD BETWEEN CALIPER AND YOKE CAN CAUSE THE CALIPER TO DISASSEMBLE AND ADVERSELY AFFECT THE TRAILERS BRAKING SYSTEM.

The risk

LOSS OF BRAKING CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

DEXTER IS HANDING THIS RECALL (PLEASE SEE 06E029) AND WILL REPLACE THE CALIPER MOUNTING HARDWARE FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DEXTER AT 1-800-400-2164 OR C&C TRAILER AT 405-360-6002.

CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
