Recall 06V466000
Structure — Thor California · reported 4 Dec 2006 · 17 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN CARGO/TRAVEL TRAILERS, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF OVERLOADING IN THE REAR CARGO AREA. TOO MUCH WEIGHT INCORRECTLY POSITIONED IN THIS AREA CAN RESULT IN A LIGHT HITCH WEIGHT AND AFFECT STABILITY.
The risk
DEPENDING ON THE SPECIFIC TOW VEHICLE AND ITS HITCH EQUIPMENT, A SUFFICIENTLY LIGHT HITCH WEIGHT CAN RESULT IN SWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS COULD CAUSE A CRASH INVOLVING THE TRAILER AND TOW VEHICLE.
The fix
OWNERS WILL BE ASKED TO INSPECT THEIR TRAILER, TOW VEHICLE, AND HITCH EQUIPMENT AND TO FOLLOW PROPER LOADING PROCEDURES AS EXPLAINED IN THE OWNER'S GUIDE SUPPLEMENT WHICH WILL BE PROVIDED WITH THE OWNER LETTER. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 15, 2006. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT THOR AT 1-888-697-8467. NOTE: THIS CAMPAIGN SUPERSEDES A PREVIOUS RECALL (PLEASE SEE 04V242).
CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
