Recall 06V477000 · manufacturer campaign C1001810
Service Brakes, Air › Supply › Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings — Mitsubishi Fuso · reported 20 Dec 2006 · 5,466 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, THE BRAKE VACUUM HOSE MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED WITH INSUFFICIENT WALL THICKNESS, ALLOWING THE HOSE TO COLLAPSE DURING NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION.
The risk
CONTINUED OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION COULD RESTRICT PROPER OPERATION OF THE BRAKE POWER-ASSIST AND COMPROMISE BRAKING PERFORMANCE; OR RESTRICT PROPER OPERATION OF THE EXHAUST BRAKE SYSTEM. EITHER OCCURRENCE COULD LEAD TO COMPROMISED BRAKING PERFORMANCE AND INCREASED BRAKING DISTANCE, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE BRAKE VACUUM HOSE AND WILL REPLACE THE HOSE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 21, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MITSUBISHI FUSO AT 877-711-0707.
MITSUBISHI FUSO RECALL NO. C1001810.CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
