Recall 06V480000 · manufacturer campaign 276 & 277
Suspension › Rear › Axle › Non-powered Axle Assembly — Mci · reported 15 Dec 2006 · 75 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN D SERIES MOTOR COACHES, THERE COULD BE A POSSIBLE INTERFERENCE BETWEEN THE DRIVE SHAFT MOUNTING HARDWARE AND THE TAG AXLE STRUCTURE.
The risk
THE BEARING CAP BOLTS COULD SHEAR, FREEING THE BEARINGS, AND POSSIBLY RELEASING THE DRIVE SHAFT, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
SHIMS WILL BE INSTALLED ABOVE THE TAG AXLE AIR SPRING MOUNTING BRACKETS TO LIMIT THE SUSPENSION TRAVEL. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING JANUARY 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MCI AT 1-800-241-2947.
MCI RECALL NO. 276 & 277.CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
