Structure — Hino · reported 15 Dec 2006 · 1,599 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, DURING THE STAMPING PROCESS, SOME CROSSMEMBERS WERE MANUFACTURED WITH A DEFORMATION TO THE LOWER CORNERS DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR OF THE STAMPING DIE. OVER TIME, IF THIS CONDITION WERE IGNORED, THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE CROSSMEMBERS COULD BE COMPROMISED WHICH COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY, SEPARATION OF THE PROPELLER SHAFT AND/OR A LOSS OF REAR WARNING LAMPS.

The risk

ANY OF THESE OCCURRENCES COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL INSPECT, CORRECT, AND REPLACE THE CROSSMEMBERS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 4, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HINO AT 1-248-648-6400.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
