Recall 07V168000

Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Foundation Components › Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings — Ford, Vmi · reported 12 Apr 2007 · 742 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN MINI VAN CONVERSIONS, THE BRAKE LINES MAY HAVE BEEN ROUTED INCORRECTLY. THE BRAKE LINES CAN MAKE CONTACT AND CHAFE ON THE STABILIZER BAR.

The risk

IF THIS HAPPENS, THE LINES COULD WEAR THROUGH CAUSING PARTIAL OR FULL LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY DUE TO A LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

The fix

DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE BRAKE LINES TO MAKE SURE THE ROUTING IS CORRECT. IF NO CHAFING IS FOUND, THE BRAKE LINES WILL BE SECURED TO THE VEHICLE CHASSIS. IF THE BRAKE LINES ARE WORN, THE LINES WILL BE REPLACED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 15, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VMI AT 1-800-348-8267.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
