Recall 07V235000

Suspension › Rear › Shock Absorber — Kawasaki · reported 11 Jun 2007 · 155 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE TOP MOUNT FOR THE SINGLE REAR SHOCK IS SPOT WELDED IN POSITION DURING FRAME MANUFACTURE, THEN IS SUPPOSED TO BE COMPLETELY WELDED TO THE FRAME IN A SUBSEQUENT OPERATION. IN A SMALL NUMBER OF FRAMES, IT APPEARS THIS SUBSEQUENT WELDING OPERATION WAS NOT PERFORMED.

The risk

THE WELDING MAY BECOME LOOSE WHILE THE MOTORCYCLE IS IN MOTION INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

ALL OWNERS HAVE BEEN CONTACTED AND ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO REPAIR THEIR MOTORCYCLES. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KAWASAKI AT 1-866-802-9381.

CUSTOMERS MAY CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
