Recall 07V247000 · manufacturer campaign G16

Fuel System, Gasoline › Storage — Dodge · reported 13 Jun 2007 · 5,062 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH 34 GALLON FUEL TANKS FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 301, "FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY." THE FUEL TANK MAY BECOME DAMAGED DURING CERTAIN CRASH CONDITIONS, WHICH COULD ALLOW FUEL LEAKAGE TO OCCUR IF THE VEHICLE ROLLS OVER.

The risk

FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

The fix

DEALERS WILL INSTALL A FUEL TANK SHIELD ONTO THE FRONT FRAME CROSS MEMBER. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 12, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

DAIMLERCHRYSLER RECALLNO. G16.CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
