Recall 07V283000
Suspension — Mcneilus · reported 19 Jun 2007 · 1,858 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN CONCRETE MIXERS EQUIPPED WITH HENDRICKSON BRIDGE AXLES, CRACKS HAVE BEEN FOUND IN THE AXLE SEAT AND KINGPIN HUB PORTIONS.
The risk
IF THE CRACKS SHOULD PROPAGATE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN ROAD USE, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT DEBRIS FROM THE AXLE OR ADJACENT VEHICLES PARTS COULD BE DEPOSITED IN THE ROADWAY, INCREASING THE RISK OF DAMAGE TO A FOLLOWING VEHICLE OR A CRASH.
The fix
OSHKOSH IS WORKING WITH HENDRICKSON TO REPLACE THE BRIDGE AXLES ON THESE VEHICLES (PLEASE SEE 07E040). THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 2, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HENDRICKSON AT 1-800-660-2843.
CUSTOMERS MAY CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
