Recall 07V337000
Structure › Frame And Members › Underbody Shields — Starcraft · reported 3 Aug 2007 · 70 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN CAMPING TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH DEXTER CHASSIS FRAMES, THE FRAMES WERE "NOTCHED" TO ACCOMMODATE THE FITTING OF THE COUPLER. IT IS BELIEVED THAT THE FRAMES COULD BE WEAKENED IN THIS AREA.
The risk
A CRACKED FRAME CAN CAUSE THE FRAME TO BOW DOWNWARD INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
STARCRAFT IS WORKING WITH DEXTER CHASSIS TO REPAIR THESE FRAMES. DEXTER WILL WELD ADD A STEEL REINFORCEMENT UNDERNEATH THE COUPLER AND OVER THE NOTCHED AREA OF FRAME, THUS MAKING THIS AREA STRONGER. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 8, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DEXTER AT 1-800-669-7681 OR STARCRAFT AT 260-593-2550.
CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
