Recall 07V406000
Service Brakes, Air › Antilock — Great Dane · reported 6 Sep 2007 · 180 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN FEDERAL EXPRESS (FED-EX) TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH HALDEX ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU) VALVES, THE VALVES NEED TO BE MODIFIED IN ORDER TO RELOCATE THE VALVES IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. THE VALVES CONTAIN A BALL SEAT PISTON THAT MAY BECOME DISLODGED DURING AN ABS EVENT AND NOT PERFORM PROPERLY.
The risk
DRIVERS WOULD NOT BE WARNED OF A BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
GREAT DANE IS WORKING WITH FED-EX TO REPLACE THE ABS VALVES FREE OF CHARGE. FED-EX HAS DEAD-LINED THESE VEHICLES UNTIL THE REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
