Recall 07V516000
Parking Brake — Gem · reported 5 Nov 2007 · 191 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
ON CERTAIN LOW-SPEED 2, 4, OR 6-PASSENGER SHORT, LONG AND LONG BED XD ELECTRIC VEHICLES, AN INSUFFICIENT WELD ON THE HAND PARK LEVER BRAKE ASSEMBLY (PARKING BRAKE) MAY FAIL. THIS FAILURE CAUSES A TOTAL LOSS OF PARKING BRAKE HOLD.
The risk
A FAILURE OF THE PARKING BRAKE WILL ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AWAY IF IT IS PARKED ON AN INCLINE, CREATING THE RISK OF A CRASH OR INJURY.
The fix
GEM WILL REPLACE THE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 26, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT GEM AT 1-866-764-0616.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
