Latches/locks/linkages › Hood › Latch — Kenworth · reported 26 Jun 2008 · 62 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

PACCAR IS RECALLING 62 MY 2009 KENWORTH T660 TRUCKS. THE 90 DEGREE STANDOFF MOUNTED ON THE FRONT BUMPER SUPPORT MAY COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE HOOD STRUT, WHICH MAY RESULT IN A NON-OPERATIONAL HOOD SAFETY LATCH. THE SAFETY LATCH PREVENTS THE HOOD FROM CLOSING.

The risk

A NON-OPERATIONAL SAFETY LATCH MAY NOT BE DETECTED BY A DRIVER OR MECHANIC AND COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY OR VEHICLE DAMAGE.

The fix

DEALERS WILL RELOCATE THE 90 DEGREE STANDOFF AND REROUTE THE HEADLIGHT HARNESS AWAY FROM THE HOOD STRUT IN ORDER TO PROVIDE THE CLEARANCE NEEDED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 21, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KENWORTH AT 1-425-828-5440.

PACCAR RECALL NO. 08KW8. CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

2009 Kenworth T660

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
