Seat Belts › Rear/other — Jaguar · reported 14 Aug 2008 · 7,918 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
JAGUAR IS RECALLING 7,918 MY 2009 XF VEHICLES. THE REAR SAFETY BELT D-RING ASSEMBLY MAY NOT ROTATE PROPERLY AROUND THE SAFETY BELT ANCHORAGE MOUNTING BOLT. IF THE ASSEMBLY IS NOT HELD TOGETHER WHEN TIGHTENING, THE D-RING AND/OR WASHER CAN SEPARATE FROM THE SHOULDER OF THE SPACER, ALLOWING THESE PARTS TO BE PARTIALLY CLAMPED BY THE SPACER, FORMING A BURR ON EITHER THE D-RING OR THE WASHER AND SUBSEQUENTLY LIMITING PROPER ROTATION OF THE D-RING.
The risk
IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, A SEAT OCCUPANT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY RESTRAINED INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE OUTBOARD REAR SAFETY BELT D-RING AND, IF NECESSARY, THE D-RING ASSEMBLY WILL BE REMOVED AND ANY BURRS ON THE D-RING OR WASHER FILED FLAT. THE D-RING ASSEMBLY WILL THEN BE REINSTALLED TO CORRECT THE CONDITION. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 29, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAGUAR AT 1-800-452-4827.
JAGUAR RECALL NO. J007.CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
