Recall 08V471000 · manufacturer campaign M0120
Power Train › Driveline — Hino · reported 18 Sep 2008 · 1,195 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
HINO IS RECALLING 1,195 MY 2007-2009 NV8J TRUCKS. DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS, THE PROPELLER SHAFT BOLTS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY TIGHTENED DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS.
The risk
IF THE BOLTS WERE TO LOOSEN, IT COULD CAUSE A VIBRATION IN THE DRIVELINE. IF THIS VIBRATION WERE IGNORED, THE PROPELLER SHAFT COULD SEPARATE FROM THE MATING FLANGE. THIS COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO PROPERTY AND/OR RESULT IN A CRASH.
The fix
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PROPELLER SHAFT BOLTS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 14, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HINO AT 1-248-699-9300.
HINO RECALL NO. M0120.CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
