Recall 08V621000

Power Train › Axle Hubs — Eby · reported 24 Nov 2008 · 1 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

M. H. EBY RECALLED 1 MY 2009 SM1GLP GROUND LOADER TRAILER EQUIPPED WITH ARVINMERITOR AXLE ASSEMBLIES WITH SUSPECT WHEEL END STUDS. THE WHEEL END STUDS WERE IMPROPERLY TEMPERED, POTENTIALLY RENDERING THEM BRITTLE AND SUSCEPTIBLE TO FRACTURE. IF ONE WHEEL STUD FRACTURES, THE REMAINING WHEEL STUDS ARE REQUIRED TO CARRY MORE LOAD. IF LEFT IN THIS CONDITION, THE REMAINING WHEEL STUDS MAY ALSO FRACTURE EVEN IF THEY ARE PROPERLY MANUFACTURED.

The risk

FRACTURED WHEEL STUDS COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

The fix

THE CUSTOMER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED BY EBY AND ARRANGEMENTS ARE BEING MADE TO REPAIR THE TRAILER.

CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
