Recall 08V687000

Parking Brake — Dodge, Freightliner · reported 22 Dec 2008 · 6 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

SPRINTER WILL RECALL 6 MY 2007 DODGE 3500 AND FREIGHTLINER 3500 VEHICLES. THE THREADED BUSH OF THE BRAKE ADJUSTMENT OF THE PARKING BRAKE MAY BREAK. THE THREADED BUSH TOGETHER WITH THE ADJUSTMENT SCREW MAY DETACH FROM ITS BRACKET.

The risk

IF THIS OCCURRED, THE PARKING BRAKE FUNCTION MAY BE LOST. THIS COULD ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO MOVE INADVERTENTLY AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

The fix

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PARKING BRAKE ADJUSTMENT. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT MARCH 27, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SPRINTER AT 1-843-695-5000.

CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
