Fuel System, Gasoline › Delivery › Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings — Jonway · reported 21 Apr 2009 · 5,000 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
JONWAY IS RECALLING 5,000 MY 2008 YY150T-12 AND YY50QT-21A SCOOTERS. THE SCOOTERS WERE BUILT WITH A TWO-PIECE, INLINE, FUEL FILTER THAT MAY BEGIN LEAKING WHERE THE TWO PIECES JOIN.
The risk
A FUEL LEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
The fix
OWNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED TO TAKE THEIR SCOOTERS TO DEALERS, AND THE DEALERS WILL REMOVE AND REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MAY 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JONWAY AT 972-408-6804.
OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
