Recall 09V136000
Exterior Lighting — Crossroads · reported 23 Apr 2009 · 1,018 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
CROSSROADS RV IS RECALLING 1,018 MY 2005-2009 CROSS TERRAIN, MY 2006-2009 CROSSFORCE AND MY 2006-2008 ZINGER CROSSFIRE TRAVEL TRAILERS. THESE TRAVEL TRAILERS FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THE TRAVEL TRAILERS WERE BUILT WITHOUT REAR REFLEX REFLECTORS.
The risk
LACK OF REFLECTORS COULD LEAD TO REDUCED VISIBILITY OF THE TRAVEL TRAILER INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
DEALERS WILL SEND REFLECTORS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS TO CUSTOMERS. CUSTOMERS WILL HAVE THE OPTION OF INSTALLING THE REFLECTORS OR TAKE THEIR TRAVEL TRAILER TO THE NEAREST CROSSROADS RV CERTIFIED DEALER TO HAVE THE INSTALLATION DONE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MAY 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CROSSROADS RV AT 888-226-7496.
OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
