Recall 09V200000 · manufacturer campaign FCP 329
Suspension › Rear › Shock Absorber — Mci · reported 8 Jun 2009 · 29 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
MCI IS RECALLING 29 MODEL YEAR 2009 D4505 MOTOR COACHES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN FEBRUARY AND APRIL 2009, EQUIPPED WITH KONI SHOCK ABSORBERS. WHEN THE COACH IS MOVING IN REAR-RISE MODE, THE TAG SUSPENSION AIR SPRINGS CAN GENERATE FORCE THAT EXCEEDS THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE TENSILE STRENGTH OF THE SHOCK ABSORBERS EXCEEDING THEIR DESIGN REBOUND LIMIT.
The risk
THIS FAILURE COULD RESULT IN SEPARATION OF THE SHOCK ABSORBER FROM ITS MOUNTING, CAUSING INTERFERENCE BETWEEN THE UPPER PORTION OF THE SUSPENSION AND THE DRIVESHAFT, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
The fix
MCI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND WILL REPAIR THE COACHES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 10, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MCI AT 1-847-285-2000.
MCI'S RECALL CAMPAIGN NO. FCP 329.OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
