What's wrong
FORD IS RECALLING 65 MY 2008-2009 E-350 AND MY 2009 E450 CUTAWAY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH SCHOOL BUS PREP PACKAGES FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 301, "FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY." THESE VEHICLES MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ASSEMBLED WITH THE FUEL TANK PROTECTION BRACKETS THAT ARE REQUIRED FOR SCHOOL BUS APPLICATIONS.
The risk
IN CERTAIN TYPES OF VERY SEVERE CRASHES, THE FUEL TANK MAY BE DAMAGED AND RESULT IN A LEAK. A FUEL LEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
The fix

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
