What's wrong
HEIL IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006-2009 RAPID RAIL AND CP PYTHON BODIES GARBAGE TRUCKS WITH BOLT-ON REAR HINGE ASSEMBLIES. AFFECTED BODIES ARE THOSE WHICH HAVE A BOLT ON REAR HINGE ASSEMBLY BUT DO NOT HAVE STRUCTURAL GUSSETS TO REINFORCE THE Z-PLATE. CRACKING CAN OCCUR IN THE Z-PLATE AREA AND A FAILURE CAN RESULT WHEN THE BODY IS IN THE RAISED POSITION DURING WASTE UNLOADING PROCEDURES.
The risk
THE BODY CAN BECOME UNSTABLE WHEN RAISED DURING DUMPING OPERATIONS AND CAUSE THE TRUCK TO ROLL OVER ON ITS SIDE INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURIES.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND INSTALL THE BOLT ON HINGE KIT FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 10, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HEIL AT 866-275-4345.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
