Recall 10V237000
Equipment — Bigtex · reported 1 Jun 2010 · 278 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
BIG TEX IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 14GX AND 14LX DUMP TRAILERS MANUFACTURED FROM MARCH 20 THROUGH MAY 11, 2010. THE 7' RAMPS USED FOR LOADING AND UNLOADING EQUIPMENT ARE NOT SUFFICIENT IN STRENGTH FOR THE WEIGHT LOADS OF THE TRAILERS.
The risk
IF THE RAMPS ARE USED TO LOAD OR UNLOAD A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT THAT EXCEEDS THE WEIGHT RATING OF THE RAMPS, THE RAMPS COULD BEND OR FAIL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN INJURY.
The fix
BIG TEX WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND WILL EXCHANGE THE RAMPS WITH PROPERLY WEIGHT RATED RAMPS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 7, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BIG TEX TOLL-FREE AT 1-800-594-5637.
OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
