What's wrong
MACK TRUCKS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 CHU AND CXU, HEAVY TRUCKS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 13, 2010, THROUGH AUGUST 13, 2010, WITHOUT REAR MUD FLAP HANGER BRACKETS. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THE REAR CONSPICUITY TREATMENT TYPICALLY FOUND ON THE MUD FLAP HANGER BRACKETS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN INSTALLED IN THE ALTERNATE POSITIONS AS ALLOWED IN THE REGULATION ON VEHICLES MANUFACTURED WITHOUT REAR MUD FLAP HANGER BRACKETS.
The risk
LACK OF REFLECTORS COULD LEAD TO REDUCED VISIBILITY OF THE VEHICLE INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND INSTALL CONSPICUITY TREATMENT AS REQUIRED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 2, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MACK TRUCKS AT 1-800-866-1177.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
