Recall 10V581000 · manufacturer campaign P116
Air Bags › Frontal — Land Rover · reported 12 Nov 2010 · 2,956 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
LAND ROVER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2011 LR2 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM NOVEMBER 12, 2009, THROUGH AUGUST 23, 2010. THE SHORTING BAR IN THE CLOCK SPRING MAY BECOME DISCONNECTED WHEN THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG MODULE CONNECTOR IS INSTALLED.
The risk
THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY AS INTENDED OR AT ALL AND THEREFORE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY PROTECT THE DRIVER, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A SPACER INTO THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING HARNESS CONNECTOR. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE DECEMBER 13, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT LAND ROVER AT 800-637-6837.
LAND ROVER SAFETY RECALL NO. P116.OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
