Recall 11V262000
Wheels › Lugs/nuts/bolts/studs — Vermeer · reported 28 Apr 2011 · 140 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
VERMEER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009-2011 BC1200XL SINGLE AXLE BRUSH CHIPPER TRAILERS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 24, 2009, THROUGH FEBRUARY 14, 2011. DURING THE ASSEMBLY PROCESS THE INCORRECT LUG NUTS WERE INSTALLED ON WHEELS FOR THE 285/75/R16 FLOTATION TIRE OPTION. THESE INCORRECT LUG NUTS MAY LOOSEN, SINCE THE LUG NUTS DO NOT MATCH THE COUNTERSINK HOLES IN THE WHEEL DISC.
The risk
LOOSE LUG NUTS CAN DAMAGE THE WHEEL DISC AND RESULT IN WHEEL SEPARATION FROM THE TRAILER, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE LUG NUTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT JUNE 1, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VERMEER AT 1-641-628-3141.
OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
