Recall 11V324000
Seats — Sprinter · reported 13 Jun 2011 · 47 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
SPRINTER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 SPRINTER 2500 VEHICLES SOLD BOTH UNDER THE MERCEDES-BENZ AND FREIGHTLINER BRAND NAMES. CERTAIN SEAT BENCHES HAVE BEEN MOUNTED WITH A LATCH BRACKET FOR CHILD RESTRAINTS THAT WAS NOT WELDED PROPERLY.
The risk
IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE SEAT BENCHES IN THESE VEHICLES MAY NOT PERFORM AS REQUIRED SUCH THAT A CHILD RESTRAINT MAY NOT STAY PROPERLY SECURED, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE SEAT BENCH AND REPLACE THE BENCH AS NEEDED, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SPRINTER AT 1-877-762-8267.
OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
