Recall 11V336000 · manufacturer campaign RCL-11-002
Equipment — Ducati · reported 27 Jun 2011 · 964 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
DUCATI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 DIAVEL MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED FROM SEPTEMBER 23, 2010, THROUGH MAY 12, 2011. THE BRASS INSERTS INSTALLED IN THE CHAIN GUARD MAY DEFORM OVER TIME, RESULTING IN THE POSSIBLE LOOSENING OF THE LICENSE PLATE HOLDER RETAINING SCREWS ON THE REAR SWING-ARM. THIS SITUATION COULD CAUSE THE LICENSE PLATE HOLDER TO BECOME LOOSE DURING NORMAL OPERATION OF THE MOTORCYCLE.
The risk
LOOSENING OF THE LICENSE PLATE HOLDER COULD INTERFERE WITH THE MOTORCYCLE'S REAR WHEEL ROTATION AND THEREBY INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
DUCATI DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CHAIN GUARD WITH AN UPDATED VERSION, MANUFACTURED WITH STEEL INSERTS. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DUCATI AT 1-800-231-6696.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
