Recall 11V354000 · manufacturer campaign LA9/ZKD
Exterior Lighting › Tail Lights — Kandi Coco · reported 13 Jul 2011 · 595 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
KANDI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 KDO8E VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM OCTOBER 1, 2007, THROUGH MAY 1, 2011, AND MODEL YEAR 2010 KD18E VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM MARCH 3, 2010, THROUGH MAY 17, 2011. THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITHOUT REAR SIDE REFLECTORS; THEREFORE, FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT."
The risk
INAPPROPRIATE, NON-STANDARD LIGHTS AND REFLECTORS COULD REDUCE VISIBILITY OF VEHICLES INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A CRASH.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSTALL THE REFLECTORS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING NOVEMBER 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KANDI AT 1-909-941-4588.
KANDI SAFETY RECALL NO. LA9/ZKD.OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
