What's wrong
TRIUMPH IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2012 SPRINT GT, TIGER 800 AND TIGER 800 XC MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED FROM JUNE 2010 THROUGH JUNE 2011. THE TOP BOX LOCKING HANDLE IS MISSING A CLIP ON THE LOCKING MECHANISM AND THUS IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE TOP BOX MAY DETACH FROM THE MACHINE.
The risk
IF THE TOP BOX FALLS FROM THE MOTORCYCLE, IT COULD STRIKE ANOTHER VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW FITMENT CLIP PART TO THE TOP BOX LOCKING HANDLE SPINDLE TO ALIGN THE RACK AND PINION MECHANISM TO PREVENT DISENGAGEMENT. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 2, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TRIUMPH CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT 1-678-539-8782.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
