Recall 11V535000
Seat Belts — Tomberlin · reported 8 Nov 2011 · 8 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
TOMBERLIN AUTOMOTIVE GROUP IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012 TOMBERLIN AVL LOW SPEED VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM JUNE 2011 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 2011. THE SEAT BELT IDENTIFICATION TAG DOES NOT INCLUDE THE DATE OF MANUFACTURER. ACCORDINGLY, THE SEAT BELTS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 500, "LOW SPEED VEHICLES."
The risk
IN THE EVENT OF A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE AFFECTED SEAT BELTS, THE VEHICLE OWNER MAY NOT BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE SEAT BELT IF IT DOES NOT HAVE A DATE OF MANUFACTURE.
The fix
TOMBERLIN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE SEAT BELTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 10, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOMBERLIN AT 1-706-860-8880.
OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
