Recall 12V023000
Wheels › Hub — Crossroads · reported 24 Jan 2012 · 172 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
CROSSROADS RV IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012 RUSHMORE AND ELEVATION RECREATIONAL VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM JUNE 1, 2011, THROUGH JANUARY 12, 2012, WITH PANTHER STYLE 16 8-LUG ALUMINUM WHEELS. THESE VEHICLES HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED WITH AN INCORRECT WHEEL CENTER CAP. THE CENTER CAP THAT WAS ASSEMBLED WITH THE TRAILER DID NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE CLEARANCE TO ALLOW THE WHEEL TO FULLY SEAT ON THE HUB FACE OF THE AXLE. THIS CAN RESULT IN A WHEEL BECOMING LOOSE AND POTENTIALLY COMING OFF OF THE TRAILER.
The risk
A WHEEL SEPARATION CAN LEAD TO LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE TRAILER INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH, SERIOUS INJURIES, OR DAMAGE TO OTHERS.
The fix
CROSSROADS RV WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND REPLACE THE CENTER CAPS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 12, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CROSSROADS RV AT 1-888-226-7496.
OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
