Recall 12V077000
Structure › Frame And Members — Dutchmen · reported 28 Feb 2012 · 28 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
DUTCHMEN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012 RUBICON TRAVEL TRAILERS MANUFACTURED FROM OCTOBER 12, 2011, THROUGH FEBRUARY 23, 2012. THESE VEHICLES HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED WITH A FRAME SUPPORT LOCATED TOO CLOSE TO THE TRAILER TIRES WHICH COULD RESULT IN THE SUPPORT CONTACTING THE TIRES WHEN LOADED.
The risk
CONTACT BETWEEN THE SUPPORT AND TIRE COULD RESULT IN TIRE FAILURE, LEADING TO LOSS OF THE VEHICLE CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
DUTCHMEN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE INTERFERING FRAME SUPPORT AND INSTALL A NEW FRAME SUPPORT, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 12, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DUTCHMEN AT 1-574-537-0700.
OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATIONS VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
