Recall 12V175000

Suspension › Multiple Axle — Reinke · reported 30 Apr 2012 · 507 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

REINKE IS RECALLING CERTAIN 2010-2013 INTERMODAL CHASSIS FRAMES. ON CERTAIN CHASSIS FRAMES, THE LOCKING RING THAT SECURES THE SPINDLE NUT IS MISSING FROM THE AXLE OR IS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED AND THE SPINDLE NUTS MAY NOT BE PROPERLY TORQUED WHICH CAN LEAD TO WHEEL SEPARATION.

The risk

IF WHEEL SEPARATION OCCURS, THE DRIVER MAY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DETACHED DUAL WHEELS MAY ENTER THE ROADWAY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The fix

REINKE WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND SERVICE REPAIR FACILITIES WILL INSPECT AND REPAIR AXLES AS NECESSARY. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 2, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT REINKE AT 1-402-365-7521 OR TOLL FREE 1-877-762-1001.

OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
