Recall 12V236000 · manufacturer campaign 41-0967369
Exterior Lighting › Hazard Flashing Warning Lights — Mcneilus · reported 22 May 2012 · 270 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
MCNEILUS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2012 ZR TRUCKS, MANUFACTURED FROM APRIL 26, 2010, THROUGH MAY 1, 2012 FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108 LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT. THE HAZARD WARNING LAMPS DO NOT WORK WHEN THE IGNITION IS IN THE OFF POSITION.
The risk
INADEQUATE LIGHTING COULD REDUCE THE VISIBILITY OF THE VEHICLE, INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A CRASH.
The fix
MCNEILUS WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND MCNEILUS SERVICE TECHNICIANS WILL CONNECT THE HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS DIRECTLY TO THE VEHICLES POWER SUPPLY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN IN EARLY JUNE 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MCNEILUS AT 507-374-6321.
MCNEILUS SAFETY RECALL NO. 41-0967369. OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATIONS VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
