Recall 12V332000 · manufacturer campaign 12KWD/12KWE
Equipment — Kenworth · reported 16 Jul 2012 · 21 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
PACCAR IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2013 KENWORTH T680 VEHICLES, MANUFACTURED FROM JANUARY 19, 2012, THROUGH MAY 15, 2012. THE UPPER BUNK RESTRAINT BELT AND BUCKLE ASSEMBLY MAY BE LESS THAN THE SPECIFIED STRENGTH.
The risk
IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR SUDDEN VEHICLE DECELERATION, AN UNEXPECTED UNLATCHING OF THE UPPER BUNK RESTRAINT HARNESS BUCKLE COULD OCCUR, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY TO AN OCCUPANT.
The fix
PACCAR WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE UPPER BUNK RESTRAINTS IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 20, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KENWORTH AT 1-425-828-5440.
KENWORTH'S RECALL NUMBER IS 12KWD. OWNERS MAY CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
