Recall 12V356000

Equipment Adaptive/mobility — Eldorado · reported 25 Jul 2012 · 2,215 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Eldorado National - Kansas (Eldorado) is recalling certain model year 2007 through 2011 Aerotech, Aerolite, Aero Elite, and Transtech buses equipped with Braun Century-2 and Vista-2 wheelchair lifts. Over time, and with frequent use, the roll stop latches on the outer barrier may become bent or misaligned.

The risk

A wheelchair occupant may defeat or ride over the insufficiently latched roll stop. If this occurs when the lift platform is in an elevated position, the wheelchair's occupant could fall and sustain injury.

The fix

Eldorado will notify owners, and dealers will repair vehicles free of charge. The safety recall began on September 14, 2012. Owners may contact Eldorado at 1-800-955-9086 ot Braun at 1-800-488-0359.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
