Recall 12V444000 · manufacturer campaign 20124

Visibility — Nabi · reported 12 Sep 2012 · 247 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

North American Bus Industries (NABI) is recalling certain model year 2010 416 and 40LFW transit buses manufactured from January 1, 2010, through November 30, 2010. The emergency release handles on the emergency egress passenger windows may fail, causing the window release mechanism to operate improperly.

The risk

In the event of an emergency, the windows may fail to open and passengers may be delayed in exiting, increasing the risk of personal injury.

The fix

NABI will inspect and replace the window release handles, free of charge. The safety recall began on November 9, 2012. Owners may contact NABI at 1-256-831-4296.

NABI's recall campaign number is 20124. Customers may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); or go to http://www.safercar.gov.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
