Recall 12V532000
Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Foundation Components › Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings — Airstream · reported 6 Nov 2012 · 715 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Airstream is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 Airstream Classic recreational vehicles manufactured between May 2005 and April 2009. The brake hose may flex near the fitting on the brake assembly and lead to hose fatigue. Also, during suspension travel, the brake hose may rub on the underside of the trailer.
The risk
As a result of flexing or rubbing, the brake hose may fail causing a loss of brake pressure, reducing braking performance. The loss of braking ability could result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Airstream will notify owners, and dealers will replace and reroute the brake lines, free of charge. The recall began on November 19, 2012. Owners may contact Airstream at 1-937-538-1268.
Customers may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); or go to http://www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
