Recall 12V534000 · manufacturer campaign C1005810
Parking Brake — Mitsubishi Fuso · reported 6 Nov 2012 · 6,538 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America (MFTA) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 FEC52, FEC72, FEC92, and FGB72 trucks; manufactured from April 8, 2011, through October 16, 2012. The parking brake cable nut may have been insufficiently tightened during assembly. As a result, the parking brake cable could loosen with each operation of the parking brake.
The risk
Continued use of the parking brake could result in the inability for it to hold the vehicle stationary. This may lead to a truck rollaway increasing the risk of pedestrian injury or a vehicle crash.
The fix
MFTA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and tighten the parking brake nut, free of charge. The safety recall began on December 19, 2012. Owners may contact MFTA at 1-856-467-4500.
MFTA's recall campaign number is C1005810.Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
